Research plays a significant role in social development. However, scholars face a recurring challenge to publish their papers in periodicals. Such concerns were addressed during a workshop on “Publishing in High Ranked Journals”. It was organized by the Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) on Saturday, October 19, 2019. The workshop was attended by IoBM faculty and external guests. Dr. Muhammad Shakil Ahmad, Incharge of ORIC Associate Professor, University of Islamabad was invited as the resource person. IoBM’s Prof. Dr. Amanat Ali Jalbani, Senior Advisor to President, Dean CBM, and Director ORIC/OGS and Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Rector IoBM spoke during the inaugural session.
Dr. Jalbani welcomed the guest and provided a detailed overview of the workshop. He emphasized the importance of publishing research in national and international journals. Dr. Hyder highlighted the importance of Impact Factor journals and why the faculty must publish their research in the Academy of Management Journal (AMJ). He shared the importance of contribution, methodological rigor and the role of theoretical contribution. This workshop guided the participants on how to write an abstract, introduction and literature review. It presented a detailed outline of the research writing process. Dr. Ahmad covered several topics including how to identify the research gap, reasons for rejection, and how to draft a systematic literature review.
TThe workshop was designed for academicians, research students, Ph.D. scholars and ORIC personnel. Participants from SZABIST (Karachi and Hyderabad), Mehran University, Ziauddin University, PAF- KIET, Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) also attended this workshop. Farah Habib, Assistant Manager ORIC/OGS and Muhammad Tariq, Coordinator played an instrumental part in organizing this event. The participants benefited greatly from the workshop. It will facilitate them to formulate their research papers and to have them published in reputable journals.
