Mr. Mohammad Altaf Bawany, while delivering “Anti-Corruption Awareness Insights and Initiatives” said, it was a great pleasure for him to talk to Pakistan’s youth. He added that service delivery in Pakistan’s public sector leaves much to be desired and mentioned that political will at the top level must be improved in order to curb corruption. He called for Pakistan’s political leaders to implement their manifestos in letter and in spirit and said quality leadership will bring quality legislation. He urged the youth to vote for such leaders who uphold merit for top positions in the making of better laws and policies for the public. He stressed upon the academia to establish think tanks, conduct research and disseminate this research among the public in collaboration with the media. He talked of character building for the youth; pinning high hopes in the future architects of Pakistan.
Mr. Talib Karim, thanked Mr. Mohammad Altaf Bawany for visiting IoBM with his team. He emphasized that teachers and management at IoBM are not only imparting education among students but are also making them good citizens by inculcating in them ethical values. He further said that we, leaders and teachers, must set benchmarks for our youth. Dr. Shahid Amjad said IoBM has implemented excellent code of conduct and its Student Societies are based on a social corporate structure where they learn team building and taking ownership of their actions. Dr. Shahida Wizarat opined while NAB has raised awareness against corruption, it has also elevated expectations among the masses. She regarded NAB as the most important organization at Pakistan’s present critical juncture. Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder called for streamlining the entire system to provide public with transparent and swift justice.
Earlier, Mr. Parvez Jamil, Faculty and HoD, Public Affairs, IoBM, while introducing the Chief Guest, said that it seems to be a humble little triangle of harmony when it comes to NAB-HEC-IoBM Anti-Corruption idealistic drives. He shared that earlier, an “Interactive Session on Anti-Corruption Awareness” on the theme “Time for Soul-Searching” was organized for his students. Today, IoBM has organized “NAB-HEC-IoBM Anti-Corruption Awareness Seminar and Walk” and later, NAB-HEC-IoBM Anti-Corruption Awareness Drives are planned with Student Societies as it is a year-long activity as per HEC directive. He believed though character building in educational institutions is an idealistic and long-term endeavor; it eventually will lead to soul-searching and self-accountability towards a better and brighter Pakistan!
