Blossoming careers for promising students
Mr. Talib S. Karim, President IoBM offered a noble piece of advice to incoming IoBM students on how respecting rules and regulations, perseverance and dedication, maintaining the CGPA and enhancing communication and professional skills can be instrumental towards life and career excellence. He was addressing IoBM Orientation for Spring Semester 2019 on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the Shahjehan Syed Karim (SSK) Center of Excellence Building, IoBM.
He felt while academic, class course and curriculum routine remain important, what is vital at IoBM is going beyond teaching and inculcating among students positive thinking, personality development and human values in letter and spirit. He believed Pakistan is a land of immense promise and potential which can best be explored and utilized through focusing on youth as the mainstay of human resource. He portrayed Pakistan as a touristic land of wonders and beauties to prefer and promote with a fascinating landscape, fantastic lakes and rivers, fabulous food delicacies, and the most spell-binding and breathtaking mountain ranges of the world.
Our country, Mr. Talib Karim advocated, offers enormous entrepreneurial opportunities and IoBM encourages and trains students to become entrepreneurs. In this regard, he informed about the incubation center at the second floor of SSK Center to be inaugurated in nearly two months. He said IoBM will arrange equity for students’ start-up projects through equity partners and industry experts.
Earlier, during her Welcome Address, Dr. Shahida Wizarat, Dean, College of Economic and Social Development (CESD), welcomed the new students and termed them as the lucky ones to get admission at IoBM. She accentuated upon the able management, learned faculty and a state-of-the-art infrastructure at IoBM. She urged students to read rules and regulations, especially those pertaining to academics and examination and to abide by them at all times. She said that the management and the faculty will always be here to guide students and it is the students’ common sense, intelligence and hard work that will earn them success.
Besides the presence of IoBM’s Ms. Sabina Mohsin, Executive Director, Administration, Admissions and Finance, Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Dean CBM and CES and Dr. Ejaz Ahmed Rector IoBM and Dean CCSIS, this Orientation was largely attended by HoDs, Faculty and Staff. Leading from the front in making this Orientation session a success was Ms. Sabina Mohsin, who guided the IoBM team responsible to complete various tasks for this Orientation.
As many as 254 new students were inducted in IoBM’s various programs including MBA (Regular), MBA Evening (2 years and 3 years), BE-Electrical Engineering, BS-Accountancy, Management and Law (AML), BS– Entrepreneurship, BS-Industrial Management, BS-Logistics and Supply Chain Management, BS-Social Entrepreneurship and Social Leadership, MPhil-Business Management, MPhil-Education, MPhil– Organizational Psychology, MS-Computer Science, MS-Electrical Engineering, MS-English, MS– Mathematics and Statistics, PhD –Business Management, PhD–Education, PhD–Environment and Energy Management. While the host of this Orientation program was Dr. Amber Raza, Assistant Professor, Marketing Department, Hafiz Humayun Baig recited the verses from the Holy Quran.
IoBM alumnus Rumsha Junaid, HR Executive, Attock Cement, while sharing her experiences at IoBM, highlighted the role of its faculty, academic and extra-curricular facilities and a cordial atmosphere facilitating students in achieving academic and professional excellence. She advised incoming students to focus on their studies and aim to achieve merit scholarships, wisely choose their friends, show leadership skills during group assignments and presentations, dress properly at all times and to give due respect to everyone they meet.
Also shown at the Orientation Program was the IoBM Documentary highlighting IoBM’s academic programs, state-of-the-art facilities, achievements of students at the national and international levels and an introduction to IoBM Student Societies.
