IoBM celebrated the 72nd Independence Day of Pakistan with fervor and enthusiasm. The proceedings began from in front of the Administration block with a guards march-in. Mr. Talib Karim, President IoBM hoisted Pakistan’s flag before the participants sang the national anthem. Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Rector; Dr. Amanat Ali Jalbani, Senior Advisor to President, Dean, CBM, and HoD Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) and Graduate Studies (OGS); Dr. Shahida Wizarat, Dean College of Economics and Social Development (CESD), Prof. Dr. Amanat Ali Jalbani, Senior Advisor to President, Acting Dean, CBM, and Director ORIC and Graduate Studies (OGS), along with Deans, HoDs, faculty, management, students and staff were present on this occasion. Mr. Abrar Ahmed, an IoBM alumni, who was representing Gas & Oil Pakistan Ltd. (GO) also attended the event.
The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by an Independence Day program held at the auditorium in the CBM building. In his speech, Mr. Talib Karim said that we need to remain united as Pakistan is going through a tough period these days. He said that we must appreciate the sacrifices our forefathers made to achieve a separate homeland for the Muslims of the sub-continent. He added that Pakistan has been blessed with natural resources and we have every reason to prosper as a country. He advised the youth to make sincere efforts towards their goals, work hard and pursue honest means to complete personal and professional tasks. He further said that we must keep our city clean just the way we keep our homes clean. He concluded by urging the youth to sow as many saplings as they can across Karachi to make the city green and it is up to us to keep our city clean and green.
IoBM students actively participated in the Independence Day celebrations. Mahnoor Aslam moderated the event, Mohsin Ali Ahmed delivered a speech on Pakistan’s evolution over the years. Syeda Zohra Fatima, Syed Afraz, Zorain Shahzad performed on national songs while IoBM’s guard, Shamshair Ahmed, also sang a national song beautifully.
