Drug awareness session at IoBM

The Strategic Human Resource Society (SHRS) at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) hosted a Drug Awareness Session on Monday, October 28, 2019.  Lt. Col. Aftab Ahmed, Joint Director, Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Karachi was invited to speak on this occasion. He was accompanied by Abid Zulfiqar, Deputy Director, ANF. This session was attended by IoBM management, faculty, staff and students. Dr. Amanat Ali Jalbani, Senior Advisor to President, Dean CBM, and Director ORIC/OGS, IoBM was present at this occasion with Shagufta Rafif, faculty advisor, SHRS and officer bearers of the society.
 
During his speech, Mr. Ahmed shared the reasons that facilitate the movement of narcotics within the country and across borders. He also discussed the types of drugs, their effects on the mind and body along with the penetrative measures to curb this menace. Mr. Ahmed said that the ANF must be informed as soon as you identify someone engaged in the illegal activity of using drugs. He emphasized the need to include drug awareness lectures in the curriculum at the college and university levels. He was of the view that workshops on drug awareness must be held regularly in educational institutes. While addressing the audience, Dr. Jalbani shared that the youth must stay away from drugs. This is an addiction that destroys one’s personal and professional life. Dr. Jalbani said that IoBM has a zero-tolerance policy for drug addicts. He was confident that the educated youth of Pakistan especially that of IoBM will not only consider drug addiction a crime but also report to ANF when they come across someone who is involved in using or selling drugs.
