The cricket team of the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) brought home two achievements by winning the ‘2nd DSU Inter-university Hardball T20 Cricket Championship 2019’ defeating Indus University by six wickets, and earlier, reaching the finals and emerging as the runner-up at the ‘Master Oil T10 Inter-university Cricket Tournament 2019’. Amid sports initiatives and guidance of Mr. Riaz Akbar Contractor, Proctor and Manager Sports and Student Affairs, IoBM continues to earn sports laurels both on and off the campus.
The final of the 2nd DSU Inter-university Hardball T20 Cricket Championship 2019 was played on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the Vital Five Cricket Ground, DHA, Karachi. IoBM remained unbeaten throughout this tournament organized by the Sports Management of DHA SUFFA University in which eight universities participated.
During the group matches of the 2nd DSU Inter-university Hardball T20 Cricket Championship 2019 IoBM defeated NED by 6 wickets; beat Indus University by 5 wickets; won against Habib University by 4 wickets and defeated DHA SUFFA University in the semi final by 5 wickets. Awards earned by IoBM players were as follows: Best Batsman of the Tournament: Ahmed Kabir – 131 runs in 4 matches. Best Player of the Tournament: Haris Shams. Best Bowler of the Tournament: Haris Shams – 12 wickets in 5 matches. Best Fielder of the Tournament: Haris Shams. Man of the Final – Haris Shams: Scored 58 runs not out and picked 3 wickets in Final.
Earlier IoBM Cricket Team was the runner-up of the Master Oil T10 Inter University Cricket Tournament 2019 organized by Khelo Kricket in collaboration with Master Oil, a major sponsor of Quetta Gladiators. IoBM cricket team remained unbeaten in the group stage by winning its matches against DHA SUFFA University, Preston University, Dadabhoy University and Karachi University in the Semi-final. Ahmed Kabir of IoBM received the Best Player of the Tournament award while Haris Shams of IoBM received the Best All-Rounder award of the tournament.
