An Open House on ‘Industry Analysis of Pakistan’

The Department of Economics organized an open house on “Industry Analysis of Pakistan” during which students of “Analysis of Pakistani Industries” presented their projects in the form of detailed poster presentations. Mr. Talib Karim, Rector and Executive Director Corporate Affairs, Entrepreneurship and Management Excellence Center, IoBM, visited this exhibit, congratulated and appreciated the Economics Department for this experiential learning project. Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Dean CBM and CES, was also present on this occasion.   This event was largely attended by IoBM students, faculty, HoDs and management.

Students used their knowledge and learning to develop these posters to highlight current economic issues faced by various industries of Pakistan. IoBM’s Dr. Shahida Wizarat, Dean CESD, HoD Economics Department, Director Research and Chief Editor, PBR inaugurated the open house and delivered the keynote address in this regard. Dr. Shahida Wizarat explained that after partition Pakistan imported goods from India and there was a need to develop the industrial sector. Ms. Wizarat recommended Pakistan’s government to develop such industries that utilize indigenous natural resources in developing manufactured goods in order to strengthen the national economy.

While Mr. Aqeel Baig, Assistant Professor, Economics Department, initiated the idea of a poster exhibition on Pakistani industries, Ms. Sadia Mansoor, Lecturer Economics Department, played an important role in organizing it. Faculty of the Economics Department was present to encourage participating students indeed. Industries represented included garments, textile and automobile sectors as well as fertilizer, cement and pharmaceutical industries. Students of the Economics Department who were instrumental in presenting industrial exhibits included Osama Parvez, Imran Abro, Mohammad Zain Abbas Khan, Maliha Javed, Waqas Khan and Amad Farrukh. Zeeshan Ahmed Tariq coordinated poster presentation pictures with the IoBM Public Affairs.
